A Snapshot Into Who I Am (Beyond Wedding Photography)

Updated: May 24

Hey! For those that haven't had the chance to browse my website yet, my name is Ella, and I am a freelance Wedding Photographer based in Milton Keynes.

The fact you have made it to my website tells me you already know the most important thing about me - I'm a wedding photographer with a passion for making peoples wedding photos dreams come true! But that's not the only thing that makes me me, so let me tell you a bit about what makes me tick outside of photography. I'm a total coffee lover and a bit of a foodie. Seriously, I can't resist anything truffle-related, I blame an island hopping trip in Croatia, though that's a story for another time! When I’m not on a shoot or editing your photos, you can find me in the kitchen, attempting a new recipe, and probably failing miserably. Fortunately for me, I’m not a food photographer!

Wedding Photographer Graduating University

Here's a fun fact about me: I actually studied Marine Biology at university. Yeah, I know, quite the jump to photography! My love for the environment never faded. I'm passionate about sustainability, especially within the wedding industry. I try my best to incorporate eco-friendly practices in my work, from using environmentally conscious products to teaming up with vendors who share the same values.

Dance Photography during a Performance

It was actually my time at University that

solidified my love for Photography. While I already owned a entry-level camera, my knowledge was limited to pressing the shutter button, so I joined the Southampton University Photography Society (more affectionately known as SUPS) and after a year of lectures, workshops and many, many evenings in the University bar planning early morning photoshoots and photography trips, I took my first Job as an Event Photographer, and the rest is history. Since then, I have worked as a Nightlife Photographer, Sports Photographer & finally settled into Weddings.

So why do I do what I do? Well, as any wedding supplier will tell you – It is incredibly rewarding to be part of someone's special day. What could be better than seeing friends and family travel, sometimes across the globe, to celebrate love? As a Wedding Photographer, I not only get to be part of this special day, but I get to help preserve memories that will be treasured for a lifetime. I cant think of any job where you are surrounded with more joy.

But what made me pick up a camera in the first place? I think this can be the difference between a good photographer and a great one. Like many, I HATED having my photo taken when I was younger. I have vivid memories of running away from my mum's camera at my cousin's wedding (sorry, Mum!). However, when the professional images came back, I loved the photos of me on the dance floor that I never even realized were being taken, and the candid shots of my family together I still treasure years later . That experience was a turning point for me. While I still had a long way to go before enjoying being photographed (and I still sometimes struggle with it!), I wanted to make people feel comfortable in front of the camera and capture special memories for others. My favorite feedback has been from someone who said they didn't expect to have so much fun during a photo session!

Anyways that’s all from me for now. In true photographer fashion, I have a queue of images to edit and deliver, and couples to please!

Ella
